Another nice romantic cosy fantasy by the author, this time involving a teenage girl who escapes her heart-break by going to an isolated inn run by her great-aunt. It gradually dawns on her that not only is the inn magical, it is also the home of a handsome groundskeeper’s son, and she will do all she can to stay there and help them run the inn.
As the story starts, Calisa arrives at her great-aunt’s inn, and it is off to a bad start: her aunt doesn’t want her there and tells her to go home in a few days. During those few days, she does what she can to make her great-aunt change her mind by cleaning up the run-down inn. But things happen that she can’t explain: a tea pot continually brews tea, a lizard with leathery wings appear, and the few guests at the inn appear to be out of this world. But she gradually wins over the great-aunt, the groundskeeper’s son and the guests with her cleaning and cooking skills.
Then her great-aunt cannot be found, and revelations from her mothers tell Calisa who she actually is and what she can do. Now it is up to her and the son to keep the inn running, find her great-aunt, and to show to her great-aunt that she has what it takes to help her with the inn; and maybe find somebody to help ease her heart.
