Rating: 3/5 Stars.

An unusual book that looks at the natural history of insects. It starts off with a journey to visit an exhibit on insects at a library that is abruptly terminated, only to be continued by insects themselves, who look at their own place in nature in the exhibit.

The book covers the evolution of insects, the people who have studied insects and the role insects have in human society. The major groups of insects are then covered, as narrated to the insects themselves via interactions with the exhibits, other insects, and the occasional ‘ghosts’ of people who studied insects.

The illustrations are full of details about insects and also slyly includes references to books about insects that readers can look up to find out more.

Book read from 2026/11/04 to 2026/11/04.
