A story told in two different time periods. In one, the past, the history of stories involving a magical deer that can create precious minerals by stamping its silver hoof. In the other, the future, a young girl meets and befriends with possibly the same deer, and then works to figure out a way to make a better world by finding a magic mineral so that the native land does not have be dug up for its mineral wealth. In the end, magic may not turn out to be the proper solution to the environmental problem.
